ECTA Training centre details

Covering everything from domestic and commercial gas (including ACS renewals); water installation and management; smart meters; Green Deal-accredited renewables (including solar and biomass) and electrics, there are a wide range of courses available for both new entrants and the more experienced.

ECTA have the experienced teachers and industry contacts needed to ensure a successful outcome for our students, we also run a customised industry training skills centre in Stockport, servicing the entire north west of England and beyond.

The ECTA training centre and facilities

ECTA’s 16,000 square foot dedicated industry skills training centre is an important part of why our students consistently do well in their assessments. It is split into standard classrooms and practical skills labs designed to provide a realistic simulation of the types of situations engineers and other personnel are likely to come across in the field.

ECTA also take good care of their candidates with an onsite canteen, free tea and coffee and even a pool table to help students socialise and unwind. We want people to feel welcome and to bond with other students which leads to a high proportion of completed courses. For a visual guide to our training centre and its facilities, visit our 360 degree online tour which also links to Google Maps for help with finding us.

How to get to our Stockport training centre

Whether you plan to arrive by car, train or bus, ECTA’s training centre couldn’t be more conveniently situated. For drivers, you will find us on Gordon Street, just off Junction 27 of the M60. If you are coming this way, take the left lane (A560 Manchester) and then filter off left on to the A626/Tiviot Way. Follow this road to the next roundabout and keep left (marked Town Centre). The turning for Gordon Street is on the right opposite two high rise buildings and there is ample parking on site.

For those arriving by public transport, the Centre is situated near to Stockport railway station and is also on the 203 bus route (Gordon Street/Lancashire Hill stop) which runs regularly between Manchester and Stockport.

Looking for accommodation nearby?

Some of our students come from further afield than north west England and whether you are interested in a day course or a three-week training programme, there are a number of accommodation options both in Stockport and nearby Manchester (a quick and easy commute away).

For short stays, budget hotels from as little as £11 a night are available in Manchester while it is often possible to book a decent three-star hotel in Stockport itself from around £28 a night. These can be booked directly with the hotel or through one of the many well-advertised travel websites.

For longer duration stays, Airbnb offer a convenient and user-friendly website for locating suitable accommodation near Stockport. Simply put in your accommodation dates to fit your course and adjust the various filters to find out what’s available. Prices and availability will vary but it is usually possible to secure accommodation for under £700 pcm. Short-term lets are another possibility and can be sourced via Zoopla and similar home-search websites. Another option is to make an arrangement with friends or family living in the Stockport or Manchester area.
